Just got my Zeiss Ikon, but got problems?

The advance lever gets stuck, and I have no idea if the shutter is good.
The film counter window shows a red letter "S".

Any idea would be highly appreciated!

Does the camera have batteries in it? The shutter will not release without batteries, and the film advance will appear stuck. A red 's' in the film counter window indicates the back was opened and the film advance has not been used.

I think I just got wrong batts..
I purchased some A675 batteries, they are same size as sr/lr 44, but have bit lower voltage.
I could somehow manage to randomly fire one shot and then it won't work.

If you put new batteries in and it still won't fire the shutter or advance the film, open the back and rotate the film take up drum a little bit. Occasionally, mine gets stuck when I load new film.
 
My manual says on CR-1/3, two LR-44 or two SR-44 batteries. My own experience is that the CR-1/3 is worth the extra.

To check your batteries turn the camera on. Press the shutter button halfway down while looking through the viewfinder. If the batteries are good the LEDs in the viewfinder will light or blink normally. If they are dying then the 2000s and 1s LEDs will blink slowly. If no LEDs light up then the batteries are dead, or are not correct.

I agree, order of preference is CR-1/3, SR44 then LR44. I've found the silver batteries (SR44) perform better in cold weather than LR44 - I had one day when I was out in the snow and my Ikon stopped working until I carried under my coat for a while because the LR44s got cold. The bottom plate connects them directly to the outside air temperature.

Once you get the batteries sorted it will become your favourite.

Thanks! I did see the LED flashed once then died.. should be battery problems.. getting new SR44's
