Just got the Summicron-c! tests.

Some test shots from my newly acquired Summicron-c on my Bessa R3a. Film is Kodak EBX 100.

I think i like it. I can't quite put my finger on what is it i like (the difference is quite subtle from my Nokton 40 S.C, but it's there.)

The built quality is good, the focusing ring is firm and turns nicely and the aperture clicks into place nicely, but that said, my rigid summicron feels alot more sturdy and solid. It is tiny though, and i mean really small, even smaller than the already small Nokton 40.

i like this lens a whole lot too... great resolution & bokeh.
hood=good with it, and for cheap you can get a metal one on ebay that just screws into the filter thread.

Very nice shots! Congrats on the lens. I recently got one of the Rokkor versions, and it's a wonderful little lens. How do you like using it on your R3a?

Second and third images are quite nice/interesting. Just wish I could see more of the monks in the second image. Colors look nice though. 🙂

I think the "it" is many things and not just one thing.
1- 3-D effect.
2- great color rendition.
3- sharpness.
4- smooth, pleasing bokeh.

These are all the things I remember my Summicron-C gave me too.

If you take a look at my gallery, all of the shots are with a Summicron 40/2...not even a filter on it because the hood is welded to the front and I need to send it for repair.

I'll just echo what everyone else has said: it is a razor of a lens, the bokeh is perfect as the falloff to out of focus is quick but not jarring and the 9 bladed aperture makes for clean OOF areas. The colors that come out of it are a bit more contrasty the more I seem to look at it. It flares a lot if you don't have a coated version or a filter. I absolutely love it.

Hi,

The CL body and both lenses are probably all you need for the world tour but the Minolta 28mm and a suitable VF would be a nice addition. I've had the CL since the 70's...

Doh. silly me. i posted here and i forgot all about it.

I'm loving the Summicron-C more and more ( i prefer it alot over the my 50mm rigid summicron.)

Blingley, its a joy to use on my R3a, there is not much of a difference between using that and my nokton 40mm 1.4, although i might convert the summicron-c for use on a Leica M6 that im considering getting.

Leica M2 fan, im very,very happy with the purchase of the summicron-c. Taking into consideration that i didn't pay a whole lot of money for it as well.
