It has haze but at the price l could not resist it, (£99), and so a Canon 50mm f1.5 LTM enters my lens collection. I shall shoot it for a few rolls before deciding whether to send it for a CLA:)

I picked up one, cheap, last year ($125.00 USD). The price was so low because the lens had interior cleaning marks. I bought it thinking I could clean it. Turns out I couldn’t remove the cleaning marks, they’re there for good. No matter, cleaning marks or not, the lens delivers a nice image with that classic sonnar-look. It is heavy though, being chrome-on-brass and with all of that glass, but for the price, I’m not complaining.

I bought one a few years ago at a local shop and got a deal as it was hazy. Five minutes work and it was clean as a whistle.

These peaked at about $700 a few years ago. They are the fast Sonnar bargain now!

any real difference between the Canon f1.4 and f1.5 being more rare...
they are Both sonnars, right ?

I like the 1.5 also. It's colors are a little colder than some of the other 50mm sonars.

I can't believe how cheap these, and other previous "cult" lenses have become. I'm glad I didn't hoard, and usually sold any extras I didn't use. But still have about ten 50 mm classics! These great 1.5 lenses are selling as cheap as the 1.8 now. It's funny, I just looked at the Soviet J-3 F1.5, in the cheap aluminum mount. Those are averaging higher than either! It used to be the J-3 was about $100, the Canon 1.8 about $150, and the 1.5 about $400. Now it's almost reversed. The Canon 1.2 used to be $900, I don't want to look, I have two. Looks like the Canon 1.4 is at the top of the price heap now.

J-3, J-8 are not having hazing issues as Canon LTM 50mm lenses. My first 50 1.8 has haze between glued elements.
