I have created a new web site devoted to all the Canon rangefinder cameras 1936-1968 as well as their lenses.
https://www.canonrangefinder.org/
the site also has coverage of the Minolta-35 rangefinder, and I hope to add other M39 interchangeable lens rangefinders in the future.

Larry, this is interesting but please don’t hijack a discussion by going off topic. Please create a new thread with this message.

I have an original hood and filter adapter for the canon 1.5/50 in chrome. I once announced it in the classifieds but no reaction came. If anyone here is interested I can put up an ad again. This is just a heads up, no proposals here please.
what filter sizes does it adapt?

I think probably Series VII? The 50/1.5 has a 40mm nose, but the dedicated hood for this lens is larger than that (maybe 50mm?). This would correspond to a Series VII holder.

Yup, the round Canon lens hood for the Canon 50/f1.5 lens is a larger diameter lens hood than the one for the Canon 50/f1.8 lens.
The round Canon lens hood for the 50/f1.5 lens takes the series VII filters, whereas the round Canon lens hood for the Canon 50/1.8 lens takes the series VI filters.

The Canon 50mm f1.5 was single coated unlike the 50mm f1.8, so seem that the lens hood is more important for the f1.5

The 50/1.8 was single coated too.
