I've been grumpy all evening because earlier today I went down to a favorite area to shoot called the West Bottoms in Kansas City for those familiar. It's an old district that's sort of run down and somewhat seedy compared to the rest of the city. Bums, the occasional prostitute, etc. It was great and relaxing and just what I was looking for.

I drove about 20 minutes home and started taking stuff out of my car and realized I left both my Sekonic L-308s and the darkslide from my GS-1 at a spot down there. I immediately called a friend that lives close to the spot to have him go check.. no luck. I drove back down there and scanned the area where I knew I left it. Of course there was no trace. Defeated and a little ticked, I tucked my tail and drove back home.

I didn't realize til today how much I rely on that thing! I've never put a battery in my Canonet, the GS-1 is meterless, as are all the other cameras I own. I'm lost without it!!

So if anyone sees a homeless guy taking convenient and accurate incident light readings in the downtown or West Bottoms area of Kansas City, please give me a shout! Otherwise, if you have a cheap meter that does incident accurately, I'd love to hear about it.

:bang:

Here's a link to the last known location of the items 😀 They were sitting on the base of that first overpass support.

I'm sorry to hear it. When I was there, West Bottoms was a great place to shoot, but I almost never saw another human being there. Safe, because it was deserted. Very 'Omega Man'.

Good luck with a replacement, I realize how important a good meter is.

Sorry to hear about your misadventure. I use an old Gossen Luna Pro Digital F and a Pentax spotmeter myself, but there is, as of this minute, a Sekonic L-308S on ebay, in "mint condition," going for $29. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sekonic-L-308S-Digital-Flash-Meter-Mint-Boxed-308S_W0QQitemZ110230323397QQihZ001QQcategoryZ708QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

There is also an "unused" Sekonic Flashmate model L-308BII going for $70. http://cgi.ebay.com/sekonic-flashmate-L-308BII_W0QQitemZ170198823952QQihZ007QQcategoryZ708QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemI'm assuming you would only be interested in digital meters.
