Today I am head elf, so I was downtown (is this a US wide term for city center?) running from store to store picking up some last minute goodies. I think I did pretty well gift wise & also managed to shoot the rest of the first roll through my Contax II. Now I'm just waiting for the 1hr developing place... I will post anything worthy of sharing when I get back...

Here are a couple from the first roll... All the shots here were taken using my '57 J-8 on some '04 vintage Kodak Gold 100. I did do a little cropping, nudging of the levels & sharpening to these pics. Sorry for the crappy walgreens scans...
#1 On my way back to the car I noticed this staircase & took a few shots... I think I liked this one the best, but I'm not sure about all the angles/perspective?
#2 Some friends of mine live in the apartment building on the far right of this picture... They say you get used to the trains coming by all the time... not sure if I would.
#3 Another train line shot... They were doing some work on the track directly behind me.
#4 A view of Denver's Union Station.

Thanks Brett, I must say that I love the Contax... It could be in my head, but it is somehow easier to use than my Kievs. Maybe I'm confusing easier with nicer (in a tactile sense), but I know I will be taking more photo's now & spending less time drooling over my next camera purchase. The CV meter II works perfectly fitted to the hot shoe, but I mostly had it in my pocket & checked exposure again when I felt the lighting was different.
I want to write more, but I'm going to be late for dinner with friends... Catch you all latter!

your photo's are super-clean. I really like them!
Kinda remind me of the classic urban landscape photographers who went out shooting as much as they could that showed geometric interest. Pity I'm rubbish with colour - I use my Contax in a totally different way!!

Thanks Ash! I actually intended on doing some people shooting, but besides a couple of so-so shots of some city workers diging a hole (insert stereotypic joke here
) I really didn't do any. I guess it was mid-morning and there weren't many people out... I have a couple of rolls of XP2 super that I really need to use, so the next roll through my contax will probably be b&w.

Like it... I think the angles formed by the perspective at right tie in rather nicely with the angles of the fire escape. Good seeing!physiognomy said:#1 On my way back to the car I noticed this staircase & took a few shots... I think I liked this one the best, but I'm not sure about all the angles/perspective?

Thanks Max... I also like to see cityscapes from other parts of the world. It's interesting to see the different architectural influences & novel styles from place to place.

(In memory of Peter Boyle) HOLY CRAP! Those are really nice, Peter.... to be fair, gotta give some credit to the Gold 100, eh? Why in the f#$% isn't this film more widely marketed?

Thanks Trius... I loved the results from this film as well, especially on my better shots
The few rolls I have came with a camera purchase & they are outdated from '04, but still seem to be ok. Where can I get more? Kodak Gold 200 is available here in the grocery stores, but I've never seen the 100.

Damn good stuff, Peter – clearly you're galloping out of the stocks with that Contax. Love those trackside shots (living in NYC, where they build "luxury" condos anywhere these days, this is still visually interesting), and the photo of Union Station is priceless. Keep on keeping on!
