hello all!
ive been following the forum for a few weeks now and must say ive been impressed by the respect afforded to others work and comments (weve all seen certain other forums and i think its clear that this is by no means to be taken for granted).
anyway, untill fairly recently i pretty well always used slr (analogue and digital), but it happened as it had to, and i was bitten by the rangefinder bug.
after trying out on a fed3 i looked for something a little newer and guided by the outstanding reviews got myself a bessa r today. have to say, it really does feel fantastic in the hand. i cant wait to get the first film developed.

i look forward to many more informative and entertaining visits!

I was going to say 'ditto', but it said the message was too short and I needed at least 10 characters! I didn't know that. Perhaps I've been writing very long posts so far.

So here goes, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the Bessa R 🙂 .

Now that I've started typing I guess I might as well add a bit. What lens are you using with that R? Just curious.

thanks to all for the warm welcome.
anand, for the time being ill be using an industar 61 (i actually quite like the feel it gives) but it came into my possesion in a bit of a sorry state so im awaiting a newer i61 l/d. i also want to watch out for a decent jupiter 8. im also very inclined towards the skopar 35 2,5 which ive heard so many good things about and impressed me in the shop with its compact size.....

The R is built for a 35mm lens, such a nice match. As for the J-8, it is actually the only lens I have replaced after regretting selling my first.

howdy Paul.. the Jupiter 8 is a great lens.. smoother bokeh than the Industar and not as contrasty.. having both lenses covers your bases pretty well

now get that film developed and show us what ya got 🙂

Welcome to the RF family. As I told my son-in-laws before they married my daughters, Run, Run for your lives. Like them you have committed. I, too, have the Bessa R and invite you to look at the last photo I posted, Bessa R, Color-Skopar 28, a fantastic lens and all. You will find rangefinders breed like rabbits, you'll have more in no time.

Welcome to the forum Paul!!
You won´t be dissapointed here!!
Congratulations for your Bessa. The J8M is an excellent lens (not "just a russian copy of a pre war Sonnar 2/50") its an excellent recreation of an also excellent lens! After haviong one, you´ll won´t regret it ever.
