I've heard some people complaining about wrong light measuring on the K10D with old lenses, any user here who'd experienced the same pb? Or was it only that a +1.5 compensation was needed? ( just the same as on late my K100D - I hope the one who stole it took time to reload the batteries and read the instructions)
thanks a lot!

I have a K10D with a variety of old lenses. I have experienced some issues with exposure. So much depends on what type of lens, what mode you are using and what procedure you use. I highly recommend checking out and searching www.pentaxforums.com
I usually end up taking a couple of test shots anytime I change lenses or the lighting drastically changes.
For me, my old screwmount Takumars stopped-down to meter in Manual mode is the least problematic. Maybe that is just because that is what I am most used to.
Any issues that I have had, have really just been more reasons to have fun experimenting. If my wife or someone asks me, "What are you taking pictures of now?" I reply, "I am testing my old lenses on my new camera."

Like most others, I have seen it on the K100D and older *ist DL. However since I shot JPG, I had to check white balance anyways when indoors, so at the same time I realized the need for EV +1 to +1.5.

I used a K10D for half a year with many shots on older lenses, specifically the Pentax-M 50/1.4 and the Pentax-M 28/3.5. Exposure readings (using the green button) required no compensation and results were very good. These are two excellent lenses, well-worth picking up if you don't have them already.

I also recommend shooting only in RAW and using a good RAW converter (like Lightroom) to get the best results.

I've read that it's not an issue with the camera itself but with the focus screen and that switching to an after-market screen cures it in the K10D. I've also read that it doesn't always cause a problem.

I have the (nearly identical) Samsung GX-10, and, to be honest, I've had no problems. All KA mount lenses work perfectly (as they do on the K10), and I've used several M42 lenses with adapters. Just set to manual exposure, stop the lens down and press the green button. Exposure is predictable and correct.

Obviously, there's no open aperture metering with older lenses, so no aperture priority or program modes either.

I had the K100D (as stated above), and all I needed was to compensate by +1 or +1.5, but I don't considere it as a pb, just something to know. With the 50/1.7 M auto exposure was out of question, of course, but with my 55/2 and 135/2.5 (type one, don't dream!) it was just fine. It seems to be the same for the K10D then?
