I like Leica and all its baggage. I am a follower, dare I say to the bone. Nobody can contradict me on that. I don't care if there is something better. I like my camera to be a Leica. End of story.
So it's true. Leica IS a religion.

But why do all the Leica non-believers and bashers revolve around here? Don't like it then just go.
All come here for the Leica mystique and then they start bashing Leica because it isn't as magical as they thought it would be.

You need to watch "Conan The Barbarian" and think of Tulsa doom as the head of Leica and you as one of those people who jump from top of the tower under his command.

Well, no. I decided to make it a personal religion just to contradict the bashers. Those who think they "understood" and who want to "enlighten" us with their logic that DSLR is best or that Leica will die if this and that doodad.
I use Nikon DSLRs and the best F lenses available for my commercial work.

Personally I have no feelings and emotions for my photography gear. I treat them like the inanimate objects that they're, so i find it strange that people will defend a product which such fervor.

You don't get it. I am sick and tired of the fanboy talk, of all 14 years old chatting in forums about some photographic gear. About what to do to save a company from bankruptcy. About how Nikon can overtake Canon if Mister X creates a given product that and so on.
VR, IS, DSLR, D, AF, G, D-lighting and such terms is all a sickening to me. I personally came here so I could read about photography. Back to the Roots.
Nh3, I don't know you. But you make me think of all the buoys chatting at dpreview. Just be honest towards yourself: If you don't use a Leica and if you dislike Leica, why not just go? You are in the wrong forum. You don't need to help us out with your DLSR comon sense. We know what you know and we made a choice.
Simple, no?

it really confuses me. it is your way of talking which dont remind me of a nikonian. is it strange, huh? My impression that nikonians appreciate leica stuffs and vice versa
So you use 12mpx DSLR and 12mpx p&s? will new 13,3mpx be actual to replace?

I still don't get why there must be a choice - either you use a Leica (or RF) or you use a DSLR - you can't, without garnering various slurs from others who are on either side of the fence, use both. It really, to borrow a phrase from Peter Griffin, "grinds my gears".
What's the big deal...how many times have I seen threads on it not being about "the camera" as much as it is about "the photographer" that makes the image.
Confused,
Dave

I love my Leica M4 which I have not used in a long time. But that does not mean I like Leica the company which seems to be lazy and too conservative for my taste.
And this is a RF forum not Leica forum and I have many other RF cameras and soon hopefully a DRF if a good one reaches the market.
I also hate Leica fanboys like Ned who has his nickers in a knot whever someone critices Leica.

dude, its not about film vs. digital. its about genuine criticism of company which has been living off its legacy for a much too long now.
I mean all M8 owners were treated like simpletons for what they were charged and what they got. Only a company like Leica could get away with that.

Dave, I'm confused, too. I have a DSLR and I like using it; I have a Ricoh GX100 and I like using it; I have a new Leica M2 and I like using it, as well.
I think it's possible to discuss the plusses and minuses of each type of gear without resorting to using religious language to describe them, and without using words like "bashing" every time someone disagrees with me.

Kevin is correct.
I'm sick and tired of being attacked every time I say something critical about Leica lenses, cameras and now even Leica the company... I also find it very disturbing that mature adults keep telling me to leave this forum if I don't like Leica or basically if I don't agree with them.
I also don't apologize for having common.

So what? I have a Leica M as well, or is there a rule that I cannot post in this section.
This retarded tribalism based on camera types is the most stupidest thing i have ever encountered.
Dude, you need to chill out and make love with/to your Noctilux or something.

Despite the protests of those who get upset every time there's a whiff of controversy on the forum, I think all the traffic these "what if" threads generate is a good sign. It shows that there's genuine interest in continuing the RF tradition.
My criticism is motivated by a genuine desire that Leica survive into the future. I'm just hoping they produce the cameras that will make that possible.

nh3, maybe you understand leica better if you was in its place. how should you deal with "weak links" as electronics, image sensor if you are quite new in the area. it is not easy for a medium company like leica to deal with consistent quality of such much untested new things like software algorithms, special designed sensor, some electronics which may break after a few years.

Also remember that even Nikon used third party sensors upto D300 and D3. But they did not compromise on the quality of their products. Where as Leica simply rushed a product to the market and then fired its CEO who planned to upgrade it later.
You cannot feel sorry for a company and buy their products. A company is not a human being its a business and if its not run efficiently it needs to be sold or closed down.

Sensor size has nothing to do with megapixels. D3 is 12 mp.
The problem with cropped sensor is that your 50mm lens is suddenly a 70 or depending on the crop factor.
And sometimes that crop factor is an advantage. Once you get beyond 7 megapixels or so, the value of a larger sensor is primarily reduction in noise.
I personnaly like that my 90mm lens is equivalent to a 117mm lens on a full frame sensor.

tomasis, if you're going to sell a $5,000 digital camera, man, you really ought to have consistent quality, whatever size company you might be. I can cut a company some slack with their R&D if I'm buying a $300 camera; but, at $5,000, they really should get it right! Hire some folks that can test those algorithms, get a sensor that doesn't turn black into purple, stuff like that.
I think the problem has been, for a long time now too, that Leica has sort of built themselves into that "high end designer camera" niche - nowhere in that moniker does it say "professional"
I think we all know that the Leica's of old (even the M7.. which I think is a great piece of equipment) could be considered, and often were considered, pro pieces of equipment but as time went on and Leica remained the same and they slowly faded from the pro ranks and became the "nice to have" or the "built for those that can afford the very best" camera instead.
So, should they have had better quality control and have things bang on right from the get go; of course.
Do I fault them for pricing the camera @ $5,000? No, because that's the market that they've built and that's the market that they seem to want to sell to... "working pros" be damned..
Dave
