Before you sell your M7, go out and buy a couple of rolls of film. Try a couple of rolls of XP2 and get a couple of Ektar 100 and then go out and take some pictures. Spread it over 4 sessions and really concentrate on getting the best images of whatever subject you decide on. Shoot the whole roll in one session and have prints developed with prints and a CD at your local lab. If after seeing the results on your four rolls or 144 images you still want to sell your M7, then you can let it go with an open heart and clear conscience. I'm very interested in seeing some of the images from your four-roll test. Best of luck.

... likes film again.
I second Gregory's opinion, try your M7 again with some couple of C41 films and look at the results. If your are still convinced that it is no more your cup of tea, then sell it.
RFF might be the best place to sell it, if you have some references (or a longer posting history).

Sell. Terrible for something good not to be used and allowed to deteriorate. I am looking out the window at my unused Citroen Xantia, which I didn't want to sell for peanuts and would now just about give away to a good home. The M7 is likely to suffer from no use more than a purely mechanical M as Keith said. It might be worth more in two years, but the opposite could be true.

If you want the highest amount sell her on EvilBay, but it's a gamble and it will cost you more. I prefer selling here in the classifieds at a somewhat lower price but knowing it's going to a good home. I look at RFF as a community of great people and I would rather help another person out and enjoy the karma boost than send it off to where ever and chance an even lower price if I do not time the auction correctly.
FWIW, I too would sell it in a heart beat and the M8 for an M9. But that is me, YMMV.

Thanks Mike, Juan, Maddok. Just regular scans from Superstore.
I'm going to take my own advice today and go do some shooting with my Leica M7 and M6. What ever hasn't replied because he is out buying film and loading up the M7 getting ready for action.
Take care everyone.

Sell it. It will remove the guilt of having it sitting in a closet. Plus Leicas do not store well unused -- lubricants get stiff, etc. A sale will also provide quite a bit of cash to invest in lenses, equipment or whatever that you will use.

Remphoto, you have summed up my thinking as near as I see it. My many thanks to everyone that commented, i really do appreciate your opinions. I have shot many B/W with the M6, I sold it when I bought the M7. I was a dance and show photographer for years. I always set in the front row of the theater and shoot the dancers. The most amazing thing about the Leica M system is it so quite that in 10 years no one ever complained. I was very discrete and even people setting next to me did not pay any attention to what I was doing. The quite shutter and film advance lever on the M6 and M7 are simply amazing. I shot everything with a Noctilux. When people discuss getting another RF camera other than a Leica, like a Bessa, for me it's like saying buy a Yugo instead of a Rolls.
Any way, I put the M7 on E Bay this morning, I used them because I already had a account. Thanks everyone. Bill

Well, if - as you say - the "M7 is the greatest film camera ever produced" then you should keep it and use it.
OTOH, if - as you say - the "M8 is the only camera I use" then you should sell the M7.
Really, we can't decide for you and it doesn't look as though you can either. So you could toss a coin.
Or you could decide to use the M7 for a while and compare it with the M8 and decide to keep both or sell one.
I've no problems using different cameras and different types (digital or film). As I see it you select the right tool for the job and that means having several tools available.

I'd sell it. You can always buy another if you miss it.

if you don't miss film (which i see as a personal matter), then sell the M7. in your shoes, that's definitely what i would do.

Just thought you would like to know the conclusion. Sold it on E Bay today 4/12. The buyer is really happy and I'm happy someone that is shooting film gets to use the camera. He said he owns a MP. The M7 is a perfect mate to the MP, in my opinion. Bill
