You can contact them via email or phone. Have the lens pulled from stock. Call back and speak to a person holding the lens and describing it. Then you have 15 days to decide if you keep it or not. Foolproof buying. don't order online. KEH admits that their real inventory and online inventory may not match. Call.

I have called twice regarding UG lenses. Each time, the person at KEH would say a prepared statement, such as "this lens is in UG condition and is meant for parts"

Absolutely they are useable. I actually bought an 'ugly' 90mm lens from them, and it is very nice!

Good, I called and spoke to Dan. and the lens is good shape. And he set up an invoice for me, so no one else can buy it on line.

I purchased a BGN grade 35 Summaron f/f2.8 (with goggles) two months ago. Frankly, the lens looks great to me and most importantly it shoots perfectly. No marks, no haze, no chips or gouges. The focus is smooth and tight, no looseness in the action. You'll often read that they grade very conservatively and I've found that to be the case.
