Keh

No wonder I had problem checking out with my shopping cart this weekend. Just bought an iMac, so I was using Safari. I had attributed the glitch as one of their teething problem with the new site.

Will try again with firefox, then.

The site has always worked fine for me on iMac with Safari. The current problem isn't browser incompatibility. It's broken code.

Personally, from what I've seen, the upgrade changes neither performance nor ease of use, so perhaps they're doing it to resolve an internal problem.

Both keh.com and www.keh.com point to the same IP address. Maybe the redirect took some time percolating around DNS.

On a different note, I bought a Bgn grade lens from them last week and it was major ugly!! I know many have had good experience with Bgn grade stuff but this lens could have been graded Ugl instead! It works but the glass is marked and the cosmetics are awful. I have bought many items from them over the years but this was my first attempt at Bgn grade gear. I know they will take it back but I was hoping for a true bargin.....FYI.

Very disappointed!

Anyone noticed KEH server is off the last few days? What's happening there? I hope it's not another great used camera store folding up :bang:

I think something more than a little mistake is happening. I made a order almost five weeks ago and herd nothing until last Friday when they send me a mail (after I sent them four messages!) telling me to call them because the adress I gave to them does not exist (which is of course false). I shall call them tomorrow (I could not call abroad today and I live in South America) but I really did not like this. I did not post any message here because I wanted to wait untill my transaction is closed and because it is already the second time I bother other members with my problems buying from the net but now that I see your message I think it is appropriate to write somethinig. I hope someone from KEH reads this and gets the thing working fine again soon because they have a lot of interesting gear and it would really be bad if they close down!

That's something other than a website that can't talk to its database. it's either human error and dependence on a faulty tool to weed out fraud. Many vendors are spooked about fraudulent credit card purchases from international customers. That's not an entirely illegitimate worry. I'd guess KEH checked your address against a faulty piece of software they bought from someone else. Set them straight when you speak with them.

By the way, U.S. Zipcodes are usually represented as 5-digit numbers, but they also have a 4-digit extension. i've had U.S. vendors challenge a sale when I didn't include the the last 4 digits, and I've had international vendors refuse a sale when I did. So, something as simple as that might be the problem here.

For what it's worth, I tried twice tonight to order from them and got "server error" both times at the very last step in the order process. Couldn't place the order. I stumbled onto this thread and clicked on the link supplied by ruby.monkey and the order was processed. Either their bug had cleared up or the problem was that I was using my old bookmarked web address for them. Anyway, thanks ruby.monkey. They're still hard to beat for prices, no matter their web site bugs. I bought a Nikon N6006 camera, battery and lens in Ex cond for $125 total, shipped. The same setup would have cost me $200 plus shipping from B&H, so I'm happy!

I got an email from KEH yesterday telling me how great the web site updates were.
I went to their site and could not connect.

The email was from the GM, so I replied/complained

His email is todd@keh.com, so do like I did and shoot him an email.
