It's slightly embarrassing that I have had a 100' bulk roll of Kentmere 400 in the film freezer for over a decade (yes, there's one of Kentmere 100 too). I just never got around to using them, and felt that stocking the freezer with films that might not be available one day was more imortant than keeping up with using them. That approach had some success, as I have bulk rolls of Acros 100, Neopan 400, and >100 rolls of Plus-X. But now, as you know from threads elsewhere, I'm experimenting more with half-frame cameras. There has to be a trade off between low grain to compensate for the small negative, and higher speed to cope with lenses that are often f3.4 or f4. Anyway, I was very pleased with the first roll of Kentmere 400, which was much smoother than I expected. Exposed at 640 and developed in Diafine, it came out pretty nice. There is a somewhat gritty photo in the half-frame thread that was the best one on the roll, but the grittiness was exacerbated with Silver Efex Pro. This is what it can do in a half-frame negative without that kind of manipulation:

There's an interesting story behind that honeysuckle plant if anyone wants to click on the link underneath and find out. But otherwise, the film is perfectly good for half-frame use!

That looks really nice, chrism! I've been following your results on the Pen F thread, and you've gotten some superb results on half frame. I just finished my first 100' of Kentmere Pan, and it's a good film. Seeing your results, I need to put a roll of Kentmere through my Olympus Pen S some time soon.

M2 fan.
This thread has been inactive for quite a while, but rather than start a brand new one, I thought I'd revive this one since I just started a bulk roll of Kentmere Pan 400. This is my first time trying the film. Some people think it's the same as Ultrafine eXtreme 400, but I wanted to compare for myself. More samples to come!

Very cool effect with the rainbow mist. Those trichromes are fun.
