Kertesz Exhibit @ National Gallery

I wish I could see it but DC is a bit out of my way right now as I'm off to Mongolia in a couple of days.

Any chance of the exhibition coming across the pond to mainland Europe?

The NGA's website indicates that it will be traveling to LA, but unfortunately that's not much closer to Mongolia.

LA...? Close but no cigar.

Well, after I've come back I'll attend an exhibition of work by the dutch photog Frits Weeda in the Amsterdam City Archives. What I've seen and know of this man's photos of the late 50s/ early 60s it should be a nice exhibition. I might even get the book.

All of Kertesz's work is amazing. Back in the 1970s I bought a Kertesz print -- Fortune Teller, Paris 1929. It's not a vintage print, he probably printed it in the early 1970s. It is one of the things that I would run back into a burning house to save. He was one of the great street photographers.
