Often, when people see someone who looks different or strange, they stare. Maybe they do it out of the corner of their eye, maybe they gawk, and maybe they get nervous and immediately avert their gaze. People stare, trying to figure out how the object came to be that way.

Just heard this on NPR (All Things Considered) and thought I'd pass it along. He sounds like a real cool guy who is very centered. In his photos, it seems like the subject is, in fact, the photographer; or more precicely, the reflection of the photographer in his subjects.

It seems a case where the background information is essential to the impact of the photos. I'm not sure that they stand alone, although, I don't believe that to be a negative aspect.

Enjoy!

After last week's thread about blind people taking photographs, now it is someone with no leg. I guess next week we will read one about a chimpanze taking pictures.;)
Seriously, and as you said, what are these pictures worth taking out of concept? Not bad, but not especially great. The guy is courageous though, have you noticed the stare of people on 95% of the picture? This pictures have the great merit to somewhat put you in his place. And maybe some of us will remember them when crossing their way with a disabled person and don't give them that look. If these pictures can contribute to that, then they are a success.
