Well-known
Just got my Kiev 10 out of storage, along with a pile of lenses for it. I used to have a couple of Kiev 15s but I sold them years ago, so this is the only camera I have with this mount. For some reason I ended up with about 10 lenses from 20mm to the 135mm.
I fired the Kiev 10 shutter a few times but then did something, I forget what but y'know, brainfart time and hey presto the shutter winds on with a horrible stiff action and doesn't fire. In fact now the wind-on seems to wind on in an excessively clunky way [think the shutter seems to rotate] but the shutter release does nothing.
Well aware [now] that I should probably have got the camera checked over before fiddling with it and should have been more careful etc.
I'm already looking into finding a way to mount the lenses on something else - I've come across a guy selling sony ee, m 4/3 and fuji adapters. Problem with the lenses is that aperture adjustment in in-camera - the Kiev 10 has a small wheel on the front of the body for this, and I believe the Kiev 15 adjusts the aperture itself [so... shutter priority I suppose]. There's also a shallow flange to film plan distance of 44mm which I guess means that say an adapter to nikon mount [46.5mm distance?] would need some optics to make it workable, as well as an aperture adjustment method.
Be that as it may however, my question is:
Does anybody repair these cameras? Preferably in UK or Europe.
I see okvintagecamera lists it as one they no longer repair. I guess I could send it to Newton Ellis and see what they could do.
