Dumb question department...

I have just bought a Kiev 4 (after the Zorki 1, Zorki 2S and Fed2) which will hopefully cure this current bout of GAS.

Problem is I cannot work out how to take the lens off the camera! See I told you it was a dumb question.

Can any kind souls put me out of my embarrassment?

Stephen

Lock the lens at infinity. Looking down from the top you will see a small metal tab. Push the tab down and turn the lens counter clock wise to remove.
(EDIT--opps) clock wise. sorry.

If it's the 50mm lens mounted turn the focus to infinity. It will lock into place.
Just off the 12:00 position you will see a lever just behind the lens body. Press in and rotate the lens clockwise and lift off.

Pleased to say lens now separated from camera. My reason for doing this is because the lens (1.8/53) does not seem to be a tight fit in the body and you can "wobble" it when it's mounted. Is this normal in a camera of this age, and/or is there a solution to the problem.

This seems to be a fairly common issue mainly with the Helios lens but also affects the Jupiter lens. 😱

I would bookmark the kiev survival site w3rk5 noted. Be sure to go to the home page and check out the other ideas and fixes to. 😀
