Kiev 4 selftimer

Good afternoon, I bought a Kiev 4, year 1983, and I found the selftimer is not working. The lever goes down to the pin and it start to go back when I push the self timer release, but when it is back to initial position the shutter does not fire. I watched on "Kiev survival site" but there is no instructions about the selftimer overhaul.
There is someone who can help me to fix this problem, with technical instructions, please?

One of the Kiev IIs hat I have had the same problem. To get access to the self timer you'll need to remove the whole shutter assembly out. Underneath that is the self timer. In my case the timer wasn't moving the shutter tripping mechanism far enough. I remember there was a small screw in the timer that was on an eccentric (part of the arm that interacts with the shutter) and all I had to do was adjust that and test it a few times with the shutter installed back to make sure it was releasing the shutter.

Don't want to sound discouraging, bur I never use a self-timer on an old camera. A technician told me the self-timer is the most likely shutter element to cause trouble and she hated working on them. I just use a tripod and a long cable release instead.
Unless you have great mechanical talent I wouldn't touch the shutter on a Kiev. They're notoriously complicated (I have a 4a myself).

The self timer must have been forgotten the last time the shutter was serviced. There are two levers that must be engaged when the shutter is put back into the camera. The self timer is even the part of the 1 second slow speed. There is an excentric screw on it to adjust it.

You can acces it once you have removed the film gate. As shown in the instructions on the links above.

A technician told me the self-timer is the most likely shutter element to cause trouble and she hated working on them.

I never had problem with the service of any self timer. It's an important part of a camera that needs to work correctly and gets used often. Sorry to say it tells more about the skills of the technician than the reputation of self timers on cameras in general.
