I bought my Kiev with a take-up spool included, but it's an awkward type to use - the slit is in the centre of the spool, so I have to cut the film for it to work.

I noticed Fedka has "proper" Kiev spools for sale, but shipping from the US is frighteningly expensive. Is there another source, somewhere in Europe, for Kiev spools? I tried eBay, but no luck. It doesn't have to be an original, just one that is a bit more convenient than one that won't work without messing with scissors.

Yep - he's got light meters, adaptors and selenium cells (which is a useful find in itself!), but no spools as far as I can see.

I could just go on a shopping spree at Fedka to offset the shipping cost a bit, but still, $32 shipping to get a $10 part halfway around the globe seems like overkill...

I'm pretty sure if you emailed Yuri at Fedka he'd be able to give you a lower price for shipping a small item. I ordered a Lens cap and hood that way.

Really? I'll give that a try then.

EDIT: Emailed, got a reply, got cheap shipping (well, standard USPS) for an original spool. Sometimes, it is just that easy.

I use a small piece of masking tape to fix the film leader to the spool when I use a Kiev without the original spool. That way you can use any spool from a cassette.
