It shows a little pic torn in half icon, man. I don't know what to tell you. Does the shutter work? My shutter is a little tilted, but it works. If your shutter is tilted and doesn't work, it sounds like a detatched ribbon.

The advance doesn't go all the way as it looks like the curtains won't fit going up so I have not forced it.
Hope the photo worked this time

The curtains have crashed into each other. Seems typical behaviour on a Kiev shutter that is dirty/stick/hasn't been used in a long time.

Wait until somebody else chimes in, but if I remember correctly mine straightened out when the shutter was cocked, and only crashed into each other when the shutter was fired at particular speeds.

Well I have used it with 7 rolls and got it from fedka which he cla them

Maybe you could take the back film gate off to see what's actually happened in there. It's only held by five screws. That's what I would do if I had the camera.
Could it be because the top blind is not latching or capping properly when it gets released?
It may also sort itself out if you just wind the shutter again.

Ok I had a look and the left ribbon has snapped. Not sure why as I have only used 7 rolls of film

Hi,

Probably old age as the camera is about 40 years old and you don't know what happened to it in the past. The ribbons can be replaced, best to have the pair done, imo.

Regards, David

Unfortunately the cla probably didn't include replacing the ribbons so the ones in your camera were likely the original ones. The ribbons aren't too hard to replace if you want to try and do it yourself. Although I have to admit that it gets a lot easier after you've done your first one.

Well I asked Fedka(Yuri) he said he will fix it for free so I'm going to send it his way. Instead of trying my self, I don't want to make it worse lol.
