Hi

This is my first posting in this forum.

I am currently trying to fix the light leaks on a Kiev 4a (76) Earlier today I was firing the camera with the top plate off to see the internal mechanism work. I realized that about half the time 1/2 sec. speed does not engage properly when the camera has been fired at a higher speed before. It shoots at 1/5 sec instead. When the camera is wound again, 1/2 engages properly. There is no problem when going from B to 1/2 sec.

Is there a quick fix to this? I already have the top plate off and I know my way around in Kievs somewhat.

This is a very minor problem because I almost never use 1/2, as long as 1/10 and up works it is ok with me.

Thanks, Berk

I may have the missing/damaged part you need; Lord knows I do have Kievs in their component form; a photo of it will avoid confusion

Actually I have put the top cover back and now everything seems ok. I think something was out of place and now back in.

The camera is a 76' 4a and the build quality is not good. It really does not feel/sound smooth when advancing and firing even though it has been checked by Oleg lately. There was a persistent light leak problem so Oleg sent me another Kiev for free. The other camera is a Kiev 4 from 1971 and there is a world of difference between the build quality of the cameras.
