kiev 5 question

Hi Zhang,

I am very curious about how a mind like yours didn't attempt to dismount the Winding knob and lever, and mount it in a Kiev 4am/m...

Yet instead of apologizing you could give me the size measures of the Kiev 5 body.

Cheers,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,

It is 141mm wide, 96mm high, and 84mm thick including a Helios 94 lens.

Do you think it is the ugliest camera of the Contax-Kiev line and the most complex rangefinder ever made?😉

Cheers,

Zhang

One little-known piece about the 5: the earliest manufacture samples had vertical-parallax compensation on accessory shoe for external VFs. Then it was discarded as the camera was already quite complex to produce.

The early Kiev 5 also has a flash socket under the rangefinder window. I have a leather case for an early Kiev 5.

Princelle also mentioned a Kiev TTL made in 1962. This is also a more complex camera.

Probably also because of the changed viewfinder magnification and the addition of a 85mm frame to the viewfinder, which was parallax-corrected already, so anyway you wouldn't need an external parallax-corrected finder anymore.
