Kansas. OMG. Kansas.
Ready to dump my Kievs due to a problematic J-12, I completely forgot to play with my 135mm Nikkor in S-mount. Finally took it for a spin today, shot a roll chasing after my 3-year-old daughter.

I must say I am liking what this lens can do. The scans below (except for the image of the Kiev) are by Walgreen’s. The lens does well on the Kiev from 3.5 (wide open) all the way to past 16. I have a feeling that with some practice, this could be my lens of choice for family snapshots.

Anyway, this is just a quick note to say that I like the Nikkor lens a lot and would recommend it to Kiev owners.

How far off the focus is in your opinion (Contax vs Nikon S helicals), wide open and close up?

This particular Nikkor focuses accurately at both ends of the scale. The previous owner must have modified the shim, resulting in the lens focusing properly on a Kiev (I've done the candle - film plane focus test suggested by Vince in another thread a while ago).
