Hi!

is it possible to use real carl zeiss lenses on the kiev and Vis-à-vi?
it is the same mount, isn't it? I saw a real 2,8 35mm Biogon on ebay for 100$

thanks

Should work fine. Others on this forum have said that the prewar 35mm Biogon/Jupiter-12 won't work on a postwar Contax, but otherwise compatibility shouldn't be an issue.

The prewar 35/2.8 biogon will mount only prewar Contax-II / III and all kievs. I think it doesn't mounts on the postwar Contax-IIa / Contax-IIIa and on the Bessa R2C/R2S. Good luck with the bid 🙂

I was especially interested in the Contax IIa.

so you mean all FSU lenses will work fine except for the J12?

Santino, I was discussing this regarding the Bessa R2C with dexdog, there should be a thread in the Bessa forum called "Advice on R2C" from me... now i'm off, coding the russian lenses database 😀

That sounds right. There's the usual FSU quality-control issues, which could affect lens allignment. But for the most part, the Kievs and Kiev-compaitible lenses have the highest workmanship of FSU cameras. The early Kievs were made using original Zeiss Contax machining. So to a certain extent they're not duplicates of the Contax II/III so much as continued production.

that sounds good, I think I can live without the J12 mounted on the Contax IIa, a J8 will be fine and I still have my Kiev 4a 😀 🙂
