I jusr received a Kiev 4M that is a little different that my other 4M's in that the rewind knob is of the pull up type ( not the one with a handle) as a Kiev type 1, but the advance knob is black with the marking's on top of the knob, a flash contact in the shoe and the rewind is by moving the bottom latch to a red dot as on the Kiev 4M type 2.
Other then the rewind knob all other features are as a type 2.
Is this some kind of hi-bird or what.

As far as I have seen at eBay, there are lots of 'hybrids' which you never know if they were original transitional models, or home/workshop changes.
I made my own hybrid out of an original 4am (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17589)

As Ruben states, it's difficult to know if those were transitional models or custom-fixed cameras. If only we had a comprehensive list of camera bodies from the factory it'd help a lot, but unfortunately on this side we're stuck. I try at least to give us some tiny help with the lens database, but we'd need to extend it to virtually the whole soviet camera production
