Kiev Survival Site

Just want to let everyone on the list know just how helpful the "Kiev Survival Site" has been, picked up a Kiev 4 that had some problems with the camera and also a J12 lens that would not focus.
Using the very clear and to the point information on his site I was able to fix a Light leak over the sproket holes, Adj. the Rangefinder, Adj. the Swivel Latch and also the fix the Gear that the Focus wheel attaches to which had come unengaged form focus gear on the lens mount helical.
With the J12 it would not focus at any range ( everything was out of focus) using the information on his page I now have a J12 that is sharp as a tac.
I now have a Kiev 4 and J12 lens that works like new.
I also did a CLA while I had it all apart.
If you own a Kiev his site is sure worth a look even if your camera is working now, there is a lot of good information there.

Although Russ's site doesn't address the repair of the flash system on his site, still using the information there I was able to repair the flash on a Kiev 4 that had been not working just by using the information and the pictures on his site.
Another thumbs up for Russ.

And, there is something I forgot to mention.
Once not long ago I was a KSS beginner, and most of the site looked to too complicated. But with time patience and tears, assembling and dis-assembling, I became more familiar with the matter. By now I am prompt to dis-assemble the whole shutter compound. So I think I could be at the Bachelor degree, with much more to learn.
But the point is that it is all there.

Hi. I have a really fine Jupiter 3, but the diaphragm actuator ring has the opposite problem of most users: it is extremely easy to change the f/stop setting while focusing so I often end up with incorrect exposures. Is there a way to actually "stiffen" the ring with a lubricant that has a bit more "grab" than others? I could open it and add talc to the existing lubricant, but there may be a better option. Seeking advice and counsel...Thanx.
