There have been a lot of questions about missing spools.
Most answers refer to Mike Elek's or Rick Oleson's solutions;
both of which work well.
I've been trying a variation in my 4a that seems to be working
fine... best of all, it does not fall out. I used Oleson's
principal (Thanks, R.O.) of a Kodak type cassette spool with a
slot cut with a Dremel tool.
Then I added two cassette end caps, one on each end of the spool.
Slightly flatten the end caps so the center hole grips the spool end tightly.
Check for smooth edges on the outer perimeter and load up.
Use a dummy or test roll if you're dubious.
Note- I had intended to glue the caps in place, but the crimp
fit seems to be working so far (3 rolls shot to date).
I can make drawings if it would help.
