Killing it on Instagram!

I'm killing it on Instagram with my black and white Rolleiflex photos.

What you think? 🙂

Cool. I'm late to Instagram but it is giving me something to exercise mind and body shooting film on my daily bicycle rides:
@crabtree_errant

I've always enjoyed seeing your Rolleiflex work. The square format of Instagram is sure pushing me back to the Rollei. Oddly, I've always been a black and white shooter, but am having a blast with old color film that has been laying around.

Dan, I like your work! I've set your Instagram to be followed, I look in from time to time.

HH, Just take it light. You don't have to participate in the "notice me" game. I have accounts on Instagram, FaceBook, Flickr whatever ... They let me post what I want to post for the joy of putting it out there, but I'm not trying to be "noticed" at all. Sometimes I get some very nice notes from folks who like what I posted. Most of the time, maybe a like or nothing. Doesn't matter: I post my photos because I like to, that's satisfaction enough, and I then go on to other things. I occasionally browse others' work when I see something that catches my interest, and comment as I feel apropos.

I speak my mind when a question comes up, some have considered me rude or harsh - I'm not, I'm just objective and don't couch my thoughts in a lot of ambivalence or ambiguity. And, basically, nothing I put out there is going to mean much to me other than the satisfaction that comes of enjoying it for itself, and getting a thoughtful comment once in a while. I'm too far past the point of career to worry about promotion...

😀

I love your photos when you post them, both of you. They allow me to see the world from your eyes as different from my eyes, and that provides fuel for thought and insight. Keep 'em coming!

A friend encouraged me on to Instagram as he said my Rolleiflex photos were perfect for it. The paradox I have found is the less I post the more followers I get and keep, and the more likes I get.

It is no more than an amusing distraction nowadays, but I've added to your follower count!

Instag is square. Tiny images.
Every time I'm trying to look at it, it feels primitive. At least to me.
Lost of primitives who will like everything they see on their iPhones (this is Instag only suitable screen size). Giant flock of gulls. Like,like,like,like....
I'm not surprised OP good photos are not getting usual hundreds of likes. His photos are not for Instag dominated primitives. Sorry you have to be on this dumpster for commercial success.

Can't you click on them to see them larger? I would try it myself, but not being a member, all I get is a login screen popup if I try.

But it seems the square format would be a natural for the Rolleiflex. It sounds awesome!

I like instagram (though I no longer post there) partially because of the limitations. There is something very intriguing to me about making that small format really work and stand out. An art all to itself unlike larger format photography. Images that work there may not work when printed, or even when viewed larger than the few inches allowed.

Instagram is not square, you can use any format. The images are the width of your phone's screen but you can pinch zoom for a closer look. Easy peasy. 🙂

Some new follows on here to enjoy, don’t be fooled by instagram there are some very good photographers hiding amongst the dross. I’m certainly not claiming to be one of them but I’m to be found at @john_._taylor

Dan, I've been following for a few weeks now. Your work looks great on Insta.
For the others, I tend to view Insta on my tablet. The extra size makes a difference. For those who have a touch screen Windows machine, you can get the Instagram app for PCs and view it as large as you like.

So what happened to Dan? No response here or on Instagram. I did connect with a few interesting people from the forum on Instagram due to this post.

Hopefully Dan's okay.
