Kipon Iberit (M) lenses

I'd never heard of these. Chinese? Japanese? Seems like the barriers to entry for lens design and manufacture are lowering, what with ever-higher computing capability to design lenses and access to sophisticated manufacturing processes unheard of even 20 years ago. Hopefully the quality of construction and materials is up to the same standards. I would love to see some test results.

I don't think much of the red anodized models, though.

I came across a review of this lens a little while back, where image-wise it fared pretty well. https://alikgriffin.com/handevision-35mm-f2-4-review-sample-photos/

But as shown in that review, the build quality seems suspect. It's cheap in terms of cost, but not THAT cheap. I'd be more likely to go for a Voigtlander lens or 7artisans. I have seen some secondhand copies occasionally though, which might make it a better prospect.

They've been around for several years. Made in China for sure. Not bad lenses but not exactly budget-oriented either, which means they had to compete with Voigtlander and thus never made as big the splash as 7Aritisan did.

One hilarious note, if memory serves, is Net SE (or one of its subsidiaries that's actually responsible of "making" the lenses) had reportedly contacted Kipon asking for collaboration and after being declined, just bought an Iberit lens off the shelf and reimaged it as a "Schacht-Travegon" (by planting it into a new barrel) for their now debunked Kickstarter scam page.

Ironically if they'd able to strike the deal with Kipon then they'd be actually delivering after all. Just not very German, those lenses would be.

It is old DOA, ugly, overpriced, nothing special lenses. Nowhere near to Leica alternative.
CV CS 35 2.5 is better lens and for each of this "German" lenses here is better lens from Japan or honest manufacturer in China.

Where did you get that information from? Any source?

I can't speak for all models, but I own the 2.4/24 and that's a pretty good lens.
Not on par with Leica of course, but absolutely usable.
