Screwy
All the gear no idea
Received my Zorki 2 yesterday and quickly cut the leader on a roll of film so I could test it today , but strangely I couldn't get the film to load
After 20 minutes or so of struggling I found a torch so I could peer down the back and see if I could spot what was causing the obstruction ,It appears that Both corners of the pressure plate have been bent over , scratches on the inside rear of the body would suggest a knife or screwdriver has been applied at some time in the past :bang: :bang:

Remove the cover try and salve the plate, bend and polish with brasso(!), some one may have a spare, e.g. the late Zorki 1 plates may swap.
2's are real difficult to find, mine is beaten to death nearly.

The plate in my 2C is entirely different from the one in my Zorki 1 - in fact it's unlike any of my other FSUs. Better try and salvage it if possible...Xmas said:Remove the cover try and salve the plate, bend and polish with brasso(!), some one may have a spare, e.g. the late Zorki 1 plates may swap.

Well-known
I think that the 2C or S is the high top later flash sync / d\ a version of the Zorki I / Zorki C / S -
The Zorki 2 is the rare beast with 1/ 1000 top shutter speed - and I have no idea if the parts are similar to a Zorki ! ?
if it looks like a Zorki I , it's a Z2 , if it looks like my avatar with delayed actoion - it's a Zorki 2 C/S
If it's a Zorki 2 C/S , they are plentifull and fair game for messing about with - a genuine Zorki 2 should be cosseted like a Leica !
... and 6 months ago , I knew nothing of all this ...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but...An S is a 1 with flash sychroniser, a 2 is a 1 with self-timer, and a 2C is a 1 with self-timer AND flash synchroniser. The FED S is the one with 1/1000th. Did some Zorki 1 or 2 models have 1/1000th then?

My 2 only has /500, two piece shutter dial, delay and strap lugs, it seems otherwise the same as a 1. I'd have to strip it, as I need to, but the rangefinder cover is stuck.
It is in user minus condition so I did not pay too much.

That is right.
The Zorki-2 also has a modified shutter /rewind release switch. Instead of using the small lever derived from Leica and found on Zorki-1. The Zorki-2 used a collar around the shutter dial which can be rotated left or right for rewind/advance modes. This switch is also found in Zorki-2S, Zorki-3, Zorki-3M, and Zorki-4/4K, as well as FED starting from FED-2.

Yes my 2C has the rewind collar rather than a lever. So were any Zorkis around with 1/1000th in these models or only the FED S? What do you know about the pressure plate compatabilities, Jay? How much did they vary in type within models?ZorkiKat said:That is right.
