Kodachrome with RF?

Just had 4 rolls developed. $3.88 a roll via the evil Wal-Mart (who must ship to Dwayne's). Shot them in my Nikon S3. :)

I've not shot Kodachrome in almost 30 years. I used it when I was just beginning to learn photography, and a pro buddy explained bracketing and the narrow exposure latitude of positive versus negative films. He said, "Grab some K25, and go shoot red malboxes. Bracket the exposures annd see what you get." I liked the colours, but hated the hoops I had to go through to get the processing done, even though Kodak had a large facility (now closed) here in Toronto. When I discovered the convenience of E-6 films, I switched and have been using them ever since. So no, I've never used Kodachrome in my rangefinders, and now likely never will. I'll stick with the E6 films I know and love.

I also use Walmart and I pay 4.88 My only issue with Walmart is that every time I call to see if the film has arrived, they are always confused as what is going on. Most of the employees don't even know what slide film is!!! I think that in time they will know me well enough!!! :) Less than 2 weeks turnaround.

Before, I mainly shot with Velvia 100. I now shoot with Kodachrome mainly and will try Provia 400 next for lower light situations. In Missouri, it is almost always sunny.

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah

In the dark ages, I went opposite to most everybody and shunned Kodachrome for Agfachrome 50 S. Used it in the Contax and in a Canonet. I loved those pastel colors! Kodachorme looked almost garish by comparision. But of course, Agfachorme went west rather quickly.

Here are some Kodachromes from the 70's. I just got into photography and my mom bought a Fujica SLR and a 50mm lens. I used the camera 99% of the time she owned it. I was in HS when these where shot.

I just got back some Kodachrome I shot with the S2 and my metering is way off. A few decent exposed images, but most are underexposed. Evil DSLR Syndrome.

I've been shooting it (mostly w/RFs) only the past year or so & figure I'll keep shooting it until Dwayne's closes the line.

I had heard that it was even more finicky than E6 & so it seems to be. It's also been more trouble to scan, but that may be due to my metering mistakes, too. I wish I could afford to buy some of the few remaining rolls of K25 to shoot with.

Thanx Dave,
The slides were in storage since 1982 in various places my mom moved to. I know we didn't have a slide projector so I'm thinking they were viewed on a light table them put back in the boxes and put away. I was always on the road and probably would have dumped them if they were in my possession in those days. I have over 1000 slides--I just got them back this last summer and have been slowly going through them.

I basically used a Coolscan V with ICE only. Jpeg files are enormous--like 30MB or so! Not much PS done other than resize to 1000 on the long side and I think a boost of EV in the first one. Other than that, not much else. Maybe the Fujica 50mm lens?

One of the better exposed shots from last time I use K64 with the S2. Might have been the 105 lens too. Not the best shot--I wasn't paying attention the rail:bang:, but I like the colors and the sharpness from the 105.
