Yesterday I received my first kodacrome 25. Strangely (for me) the roll come in one piece and not cut and in the slide holders. Today I went to a local photographer that my parents used and ask if she could cut and place in the holder, etc.
I comment that this time, the film was sent to me like that and that I was suprised. She then talk that next time I should ask for all service and next time I should go there and she will send the roll to the professional lab that she uses for slide and other professional work.
Then I told about that kodacrome is only developed in one place the world, that sent to swisszerland, and the send to the US. She insisted that the lab develop the slide film.
Also noticed that the roll was badly developed (that I can not say, but when I saw it in the light today, I like what I saw), the number of the photos should be noticeble but they are not. When I said that the developing process was not E-6 but K-14, she said that never heard it and what was the difrence. But I could talk more, since my troat is killing me today and had to leave.
So next time, I will take my next kodacrome 25 there and wait the results after the lab puts the film in E-6, or they send it back, since they can not so anything...
 
European market Kodachrome was available in processing-only/no-mount packages (prefixed with U on the box). It could be you got one of those and did not pay attention.
 
That's interesting. I have a roll of K25 coming back from Dwayne's. I don't recall what kind of mounting I requested, just a CD of scans added, plus $1 for "Kodak verified" packaging, and shipping. I wonder if that last dollar is for the mounting??

All the european kodachrome? My first kodachrome, a 64, come back mounted, so I thought that the mounting was always include in price. Possibly since it was a kodachrome 25 expired in 2001, they thought that I bought in ebay or something. Or they didn't had any holders when they developed mine.

Definitely write on the mailer "mount" or possibly "plastic mounts".

(I make it a point to write either "do not cut - sleeve only" or "mount" on all of my e-6 mailers. I have had mixed results when I write only "do not cut". I cut my own 120, 35mm is mounted).

No, not all of course. But a good deal of stuff from 90s and early 2000s was like that. On two German-sourced K25 rolls I have remaining it says "UNGERAHMT" in bold black letters, and that's how it comes back from Dwayne's.
 
What do you have to lose? It will definitely not be usable anymore after they shut down the last remaining processing facility on the planet (Dwayne's), which is scheduled for Dec. 31.

Kodachrome is said to work well long after its expiration date, because it is essentially a black and white film. The colors are added during processing.

Well, the film come back rolled in a white paper strip, inside a round cardboard thing. Like the one that many stuff (paper/tape, etc) are roll up.
 
European mailing envelopes have a dotted line on them that you cut off to signify to Kodak that you don't want the slides mounted. This used to be explained in the instructions in or on the box, but no longer. Perhaps the envelope Rhodes used had already had its corner cut off? I always mark the envelope and the film with 'do not mount' as well as the current card slide mounts are horrible - they leave fluffy bits all over the film. I've even had films sent back each rolled in the little card sleeves but all massd together in a bigger card box even though the films were sent one at a time in individual envelopes - somewhere the folks from Kodak were paying attention to what they got sent!!

Ah, I didn't know that about the envelope. It may be the explaination. Yes, teh current slide mounts are terrible!
TWoK, my scanner is not good to scan kodachrome (already tried, didn't like the result), but I will post here after I pick up the slides mounted.

PS: Yes, the envelope has unmounted/non monte/ungerahmt, etc. Didin't notice that and it's very noticeble. So is there a way to signify that one wants the film mounted with this kind of envelopes?
Thank you for the replys, I wrote this more to tell the conversation with the photographer tant the unmounted issue!
