Then don't be the messenger until you have quadruple checked the validity of information from what is obviously a *Huge* rumor. Seriously man, don't be that guy!
I would have spent not hours but days fact checking before dropping that massive steaming pile....
Considering I'd been in touch with Kodak 4 times in 4 seperate ways about the future of one film stock over the course of a week, and when one of them finally got back to me I copied and pasted the entire response into the thread,
and given that the thread title was only as incendiary as the information I was sent by the company's customer service department, which they later confirmed on the phone repeatedly,
then honestly, I don't feel bad about passing on information which would have had a huge effect on everyone on here, and the use of film in general.
As I said before I limited my posting on this topic to relaying what I'd been told by the company themselves, not conjecture. So I honestly don't feel there was anything amiss in any of my posting on the topic. I reported exactly what I was told by representatives of the company
My "source" was not "unofficial" it was KODAK, this is rather clear from the thread, the contact details are there for anyone to see precisely because the information was coming from kodak. Otherwise I would have written it off as the same rumours that everyone has read a million times.
I don't feel it was sensationalist or "Fox News" esque to report exactly what a representative from the company told me and later confirmed, I believe that in general that's exactly what customer service is for, and frankly I'm not about to be held responsible for the kind of shoddy practice that has the only one of 4 contact points for a company that bother to respond giving out completely false information.
On a personal level I'm very happy that it turns out the customer service people in the UK have been giving out and confirming wrong information, and I look forward to using Kodak products as long as I can.
