Kodak Film Prices Set To Rise By 15%

Did Freeestyle just ajusted Arista Premium price? (2.89$)

Do you think Kodak will continue rebranding TX through Freestyle?
It has been great to have those films at these prices...

It's been $2.89 for a couple of months. Looking at my order history, the 24-exposure rolls were $2.39 back on December 1 and increased to $2.69 not long after.

If Arista Premium 400 goes away, I will need to take a hard look at what I use film for.

Oy, I thought of doing a big shopping, but I have a stock, so I just ordered what I was using recently to replenish.

Myself and two other film shooters are doing a group buy.

This is an ALL film order from B&H - the total cost including shipping and taxes was $1,037 US - the bulk of it being Portra (but I couldn't resist some Efke.. especially 25 and 100)

Cheers,
Dave

I'm shopping at B&H right now and, so far, I'm spending $150 just on Tri-X, P3200 and Portra 800 *LOL*

You have good taste in film 🙂

An interesting note about film prices. I just dug out of the fridge an unopened 100' roll of 35mm Tri-X, expired in 1982. $17.60.

A shame, but my Kodak films of choice like Ektar are reasonably priced, so 15% won't make much difference, although Portra 160 was pretty pricey already in 135.

Not that I ever would want film prices to go higher, but I really can't complain about, at the very least, Ektar 100 going up15%. $4.95 (USD) at B&H, which it still is as of this writing, is a bargain if you ask me. Well, a bargain compared to the prices of most other good color films these days. I would buy it at $5.95 without much thought. That said, I wouldn't want to see Porta go any higher, excellent as it is.

Quick aside, I went to my local photography store yesterday to pick up a Wein battery for my Leicameter, and while there I asked, out of curiosity, how their film sales have been lately, and they told me film is selling very well. They have no complaints. Granted, this is a store (Hunt's) located in a good-sized city (Boston) and across from a photography school, so it's not exactly a fair representation, but I was glad to hear it anyway. The guys in there are all relatively young, and while they all shoot digital, they also all still shoot film. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to buy film from them. Too expensive ($12 and change for Provia 100F!) It's usually B&H for me for color and Freestyle for b&w.

From what I can remember of the prices at the last time I was in Glazer's, in the US, this means that the Kodak B/W films will now cost about as much as the Ilford ones.

My european dealer said that there was a price increase.. I bought everything I could of tri-x.. but I fear that the new prices will kill the local businesses.. :\

This has nothing to do with Kodak! The global silver prices JUST went up significantly.. people have been stealing Xray film and chemicals from labs to salvage Ag to make some cash!.
im sure all the film producers will increase their prices as they start coating their new batches.
