Kodak Plus-X 125asa

I too have heard that Arista Premium 100 is Plus X. And I like the results I've had in HC110. I would disagree with Roger that its sole merit is that it keeps well🙄

BTW, wasn't it one of Ansel Adams' favorites as well?

Not wanting to get into an HC-110 war, I always liked it for TX and HP4/5 ... for Plus-X (which I didn't use much) or FP-4, I mostly used Edwal FG-7.

But these days I'd probably stick with Rodinal or XTol.

There was an eBay seller selling short dated 36 exposure rolls of PlusX a while ago for just over $2.00 per roll ... I bought twenty rolls and most of it's still in the freezer. I had to back the developing off a lot to get decent scans but when you get it right it's a gorgeous film.

I still have seventeen rolls left ... might have to try some more I think!

Again, it is what you like, I like the full tones with lots of shadows, and highlights that have a shoulder. HC-110 gives me this plus a little softness that I also like, so pick your favorite. One of my best combinations has been Ansel Adams method (HC-110) with TriX. Unfortunately, I can't be as enthusiastic about PlusX, I personally didn't like it, but I've seen others that use it to 'fill the bill' for their style.

Hi everyone,
I love Plus-X. I have a question now that all the PX guru's are here ... I bought 1000' of it on EvilBay and it has a slight fog when I soup it in Diafine. D76 is not nearly so bad & looks almost like "fresh" stock. A local photo store guy sold me Liquid Orthazite to solve the fogging ... but it only speaks of paper ...Any advice for the next 975 feet ? PMK ? I like the vintage look of Trix & PlusX so if that helps ...

Thanks !
Steve
