Thinking long term, many investment bank research organizations predict a side effect of the SARS-2 pandemic will be increased citizen and government concern about health and medicine. These organization also predict in the decade to come domestic sourcing for pharmaceutical production will become a national priority.

If today's Kodak gets a head start on this trend they could become a leader in domestic pharmaceutical production.

The stated plan is the Kodak produce 25% of US generic pharmaceutical precursors. This is very significant.

Just saw Kodak on FOX news. They showed pictures of Kodachrome boxes and a lot of other photographic related stuff. This is what people know Kodak for. Anchor said that film was really not there any more... Somewhat true, but hopefully as more people talk about it awareness that film still exists and is there to stick in our cameras grows.

What puts this in perspective is Kodak is valued at $300 million.
They just received a $750 million loan.

And yes, this is to produce pharmaceuticals in part to fight the pandemic.

After reading the article, one thing seams quite plausible. No where does it mention that Kodak has plans for building the facility in the USA. Most likely it will be offshore, like somewhere in whatever Asian country coughs up the most to get it built there. And in eight years time $765 million dollars can disappear without anything of substance being actually being produced. Especially when hidden away in some remote backwoods property.

Before Kodak did the slash and burn thing they did have a division that made blood testing machines and "stuff". They might still have rights to use the "Kodak" name. Very sad, very interesting read, makes me think that the idea of taxing equity (and bond) trades is not a bad idea. Especially if it's a single owner above a reasonable dollar value....

They do this in Rochester NY right now. They also (supposedly) have a big order. The loan will allow them to scale-up, improve older unused facilities in Rochester and Minneapolis, and supply 25% of the API (active pharmaceutical ingredients) for generic drugs in the USA. As I am sure you are aware, Kodak was largely a chemical or at least chemistry-based company for most of their existence.

I do not see Kodak rushing to "develop" new drugs. They will supply needed chemical compounds for existing generic drugs only, and I suspect they can be quite competent at that. Fuji has money to invest, but Kodak is going for the Hail Mary pass. I do hope they catch it and make it work. It could be the turnaround of the century. After the turn-around, then things could continue developing.

I am holding a little too. Not enough to retire on for sure, but it could be a nice little boost. This the fourth stinker turned to blinker during this Covid-19 episode. It is amazing the effects of black swans.

That is between doctors and their patients. I do not think HCQ is the big driver here. It is long term national security. It may be a little bonus for Trump.

You all know that Kodak has not received a 750 million dollar loan? They have received a "letter of intent" from the government to provide a loan if they can demonstrate the ability to produce pharmaceutical ingredients.

The price rise is speculation. For you that have bought a few shares at $2 I'd suggest you sell it quick and take the profit to buy film.
