Kodalith ortho film 6556 type 3 35mm? Midtones?

Scored a bulk roll of this stuff. Kept refridgerated, expired, 1982.

I know this is meant as for high contrast photomechanical use.

However I have heard of some acheiving midtones.

I was going to try asa 16 in Rodinal 1:100, 1 hour. Stand Development.

Was the grain as fine as tech pan? Would you expect larger grain from age?


Any advice would be appreciated.

I have some of the other kodalith ortho different number that i got for £0.50 for 100 feet and have developed that in Rodinal, ill post some shots when i get home from work

I can't answer most of your questions, but the 1971 expired Kodalith I have seems to be fairly fine grained, and midtones certainly occur. The general effect is a bit like pulling in the white point and black point on a digital pic. Still plenty of mid-tones but a lack of detail evident near the upper and lower limits.

I've been using Ilford ID-11 (because that's what I have) but I don't know what difference the different developers would have.

I have exposed as ISO 25 - and that has seemed OK.
