Komura 28 3.5 vs Color Skopar 28 3.5

i was struck by the sense of space in the cathedral interior shot by CLE-RF in this thread the other day -- taken w. the Komura

Anybody have both the Komura 28mm 3.5 and the Voigtlander 28 3.5 to compare/comment on the impression of space from the two?

I've gone to flickr and checked out the Skopar 28/3.5 group and their shots. They look good, ie seem to have three-dimensionality and depth to them, but I cannot tell from examination whether they match the feeling of the shot you posted to the earlier thread.

Can you say whether all your shots with the Komura 28/3.5 have that charecteristic, or whether it is likely to be an artifact of that space and light?

Saw the remark just now (kinda late).

I will be visiting Canterbury this coming weekend, and will shoot at the Cathedral there. I'm bringing the same Kodacolor 200 film, so a comparison should be possible somewhere early November, once the film has taken its baths!

Kutna Hora Cathedral (Czech Republic)
Shot with Leica M5, W-Komura 28mm f3.5, Kodacolor 200, f5.6 @ /1/125th

As you can see, the light was quite different (Canterbury in fall end of the day, Kutna Hora in spring early afternoon, light vs. dark cathedral)

Yet, I feel the W-Komura has kept up the reputation it already had with me.

Now, anybody wanna chime in with some Color-Skopar 28mm f3.5 shots?

just wondering, what film do you mostly shoot with the 35mm?

I have the same lens, and have loaded the camera with Kodacolor film, but after reading your remark I wonder if the lens does this rendering with other film as well?

This is my Kyoei W-Acall 35mm f3.5:

That lens is a keeper, for sure.

I like using Fuji Reala 100. This film is highly suitable with good vintage lenses. The Canon 35mm/1.5 gave me great results with such a film too.

They've really cleaned up the cathedral at Kutna Hora since I was there in '99. Saint Barbara's, I think? Loved the ossuary in Kutna Hora as well. I'm a big fan of the 28mm Skopar; I'll try to upload something suitable when I get home.

Your Komura 28/3.5 is sharper than I expected. It is not an easy lens to find at a reasonable price unfortunately. The CV 28/3.5 in my view clearly outperforms it, but that is expected due to its modernity. Like the Komura, it too will probably become collectible and soon if history is any guide.
