All the pices from Nokton I see so far has the standard CV signature, i.e., no signature. I am still interested in this lens as I always want a huge lens for my M5. But I will wait for one year or 2 years time, as CV lens drop their value rapidly in 2nd market. Maybe at that time, a 700USD for a 1.1 lens is not a bad deal.

I have no experience with M-Hex 50/1.2. But I am pretty sure that its material and building is better/much better than the Nokton.

I have/used to have many CV lens, including 50/1.5, 35/1.7. 90/3.5,21,25,35,.......some of them were said to be exceptional well build, but never succeeded in impressing me in their building quality.

which one is the one worth to keep? My vote goes to M-Hex.

The Hex is definitely smaller weighing in at under 400g and from the pictures I've seen appears shorter than the CV 50/1.1.

Interesting!

I just put my M-Hex on the scale, without filters and caps it weighs 387 grammes. When mounted, it sticks out 51mm without a filter or hood attached.

What are the Nokton specifics, anyone? I was pretty sure the Nokton would have the size/weight benefit, guess I was wrong😱

IIRC the Canon takes 55mm filters and am pretty sure it doesn't get as far out as 51mm, but have no clue on weight. Again: anyone?

I`d love to do a users comparison test, if anyone near me (Florida) has the Hex and the Nok, to loan me , I`d pull up my Canon and shoot the same model in some comparison tests, in a retro artistic style 🙂

well, there are several threads on RFF with pics from both - Hex 50/1.2 and Canon 50/1.2 - just do a little searching.

The comparison is simply a priority choice, IMHO. If you want the smoothest 'look', go Hex. If you want the cheapest (barring hood) and most 'character,' go Canon. If you want modern quality, but can't afford the Hex, get the 1.1, or save your pennies. [Or look into the 60/1.2, which is also nice.]

Then there's the issue of style. A LTM 1.2 lens mounted on a barnack: priceless.

From my experience of both Konica and VC lenses, I have no doubt that I would have taken the Hex (although I have never saw either in flesh)
That being said, and the economics being what they are, I stick with my canon 1.4 which at about 1/2 a stop (or 1/3 a stop, or nothing at all with glass added) is not much slower than the others, is a hell of a good lens, and costs 1/3 to 1/5 of the 1.1/ 1.2 counterparts.
In the occasional need for additional speed, I will probably push my tri-x.
But, hey, that's just me😉

I have to go with the Konica ... I have two Konica lenses and the build and image quality are outstanding.

Also with the release of the new CV the Konica 1.2 prices should drop a little.

Well, so far (and its been a while now) Konica 50/1.2 stayed the same or even went a bit higher. It for sure holds it's own - Nokton or not, while Nokton 50/1.1 already dropped in price a good bit. Makes you wonder....
