Hello everyone
Generally I give out tips and help on rangefinder cameras although today I am stumped. I have a Konica Auto S1.6 which is nearly the same as the Auto S2. This model operates the same way as the S2. Upon receiving this camera the meter registered about half way the scale and would not shut off with a lens cap installed. Now this camera needed a CLA so I torn it down and inspected the wiring throughout. The battery compartment was checked when disassembled and repaired too. Needless to say all wiring was replaced with new wires. I check the meter which ohm out fine to specs. I carefully assemble this camera and receive the same results as before tearing this camera apart. Once again I tore it down, inspected it throughout, and still the same problem. Next I changed meters and the battery compartment with parts from a working Konica S2. Still the same problem. No wires are chafe anywhere especially under the lens bezel. I am certainly very confused about this problem here and wonder if anyone had this happen to them. :bang::bang::bang:

Faulty CdS cell? If your donor Auto S2 has the same cell, I would try substituting it as you seem to have covered all the other points, including the galvanometer, if I understand your post above correctly.Hello everyone

Don't know the camera but surely would look for possible grounding issues. Sometimes the metal parts of a camera are used as a "wire".

Thank you for all replies back.. I had found the problem fellers!! The solder joint to the CDS connection had a spike in the joint which ground out the wire. Duh!! :bang::bang::bang:
