Hi there,

So I've received a Konica Auto S3. The light seals need to be replaced, not a big deal. The rewind know is partially broken, that might be a bigger problem. I've installed the proper battery and looks like the aperture change when I change the shutter speed ... But my problem is that I don't see any info in the viewfinder (very clear btw) .. Am I suppose to see a needle moving ?? Could someone with this camera shed some light ?? Is there way to open the camera to check the connection. I see 2 screw on the outer ring of the lens ... Is that suppose to lead somwhere ? it's very tempting to unscrew them 🙂

Thanks for your help !

Fred

You should see the needle move in the Viewfinder to indicate F-stop. It is part of the trap-needle system that also sets the F-stop. The mechanism is part of the window that illuminates the finder's framelines. The screws on the outer ring of the lens will not get you into the viewfinder. Wind lever off, rewind knob off, screws out of the top plate. There is a wire soldered to the Hot Shoe that will break if you pull the top plate to hard. Have something to set it on. Remove a light baffle over the finder and you should see a needle near the plastic mask for the framelines/RF window.

Look for the hidden screw under the rewind lever. That and the nut under the film advance lever are the only things holding the top cover on.

Ditto that - my S3 has a blown CdS cell, and i want to get it working again. I asked Stephen Gandy (from cameraquest) about it, but he replied that he didn't work on these cameras. Any other ideas?
