Konica C35 Auto - sticky focus

Hi,

I recently picked up a Konica C35 Auto and after a test roll, love the results I am getting from it. The focus action is a little bit sticky around the middle or so and I am wondering if it is worth looking at fixing it or should I just leave it.

I don't really want to pay to get it cleaned up (I'd rather put that money towards an S3...) - is it possible for me to do it easily (I haven't tried to fix a camera before, but have a second 'parts' C35 I could practice on).

I had a Konica C35 that I gave to Jeremy Langford, and I think it was 'sticky' in the middle. I think the ring (outer) had been tapped when someone threw the camera across the room in 1971. It then rubbed in the middle of the throw. I stuck something in between to loosen (bend). If that is the problem I may have a focusing ring around that you can have.

If I'm remembering this right, the front plate on the lens removes with a spanner and then you lift the plate with the sensor out and turn it over. From there, you should be able to remove the rings (and clean them) pretty easily. It was all pretty easy to figure out. Only problem you might run into is that I remember that there is a pin to watch out for -- it will fall out and get lost if you are not careful.

Thanks guys. I can see a couple of notches there on the front of the lens - just need to work out a tool to get work them open. Funny thing is both the working and parts camera have the same problem.
