I think the C35 and Auto C35 have the same magnification. I have never had or used a 7sII. FWIW, I've used a C35 a lot and the magnification never bothered me. as you said, there is a lot of room around the framelines, and it is really easy to focus and compose. Not like an M3, no! And I do prefer my 35SP.

I concur with Trius. Same and never bothered me. In fact, I have both (plus an Olympus 35RC, and about three or four other fixed RFs) and I never thought about it.

A little gem

A short note in praise of the C35 - so many things to like about it!
It really is small enough to fit in a pocket, mine at least gives great exposures with hearing aid batteries and it's so cheap to buy that one doesn't fret worrying about it.
I find the lens adequate for B&W but the results with colour film have an "interesting" character and the detail resolution is not really good enough for A4 prints.

I just returned from Siberia last Sunday night, but just before I left earlier in the month I worked on my C35 and got the shutter working again. I've got a B+W roll being processed and as soon as I get it back I'll post some pics from my resurrected C35.
