I've lusted after one of these, but I can't ever seem to find one in my price range. Almost traded a 24 Elmarit f/2.8 ASPH for one, but in the end decided to sell the lens for cash.

I just picked one up Yesterday.
As negotiating the amount of change in the swap for a 50 Summilux ASPH took so long, I didn't catch any sunlight with my first shots, only to find out, what a wonderful night lens the Konica is.
It's slow, it's big, it's funny looking … and I love it already! I guess, people, who pick for it's optical faults (especially distortion), don't understand, what a fantastic lens it can be for non landscape/ architectural shots!

There will be more, as I process more shots.
I surely will continue, to shoot the Konica over the next nights - who says, you need fast lenses for handheld photography on the street at night

Just found out a strange behavior of the Hex 21-35 on older Leica film bodies:
On my SS M3, the lens can be mounted without issues, but the RF patch won't focus to infinity - there is no tactile feel of obstruction in the focus action or other unusual signs, just, that it won't focus the RF patch to infinity.
On my Leica MP, everything runs normal, as on the digital M8.2 and M9.

It may be more accurate to say that this is the case for that M3 body. Not something I have heard before and also not the case for my SS M3.

I thought that at first too, but the same behavior is there with my M7 0.85

Bizarre. Sounds like it may be worthwhile to compare the coupling mechanism for your cameras if they exhibit different behaviors.

Maybe because you added that shim?

I don't see that issue mounting mine on M5 or M8. Will be watching to see how it goes. I'm happy you like the lens. It's a dandy that is for sure. Great samples so far

:bang:
Moriturii, you were close, wrong tip, but close
Of course, the M3 and the M7 were the only two bodies, I did not adjust that day, both being off (my M7 still broken with locked advance and the M3 not for shooting, as it's waiting for a little finder dust off and RF calibration.
To repeat: :bang::bang::bang:
On all bodies, I adjusted that day, the Konica is of course slightly off @ infinity, due to shimming (about half a line @ infinity, not reaching ∞).
My other lenses are spot on.
I took the Konica for a spin this night, to calm down my nerves - first time shooting TriX @ 3200 with it on the MP - shutter speeds around 1/4 − 1/30 - was fun ;-) Looking forward to the film.

Dirk--
How will you process this Tri-X?
--Steve
Hey Steve,
I am collecting film @ the moment, as I ditched the lab (price increase of 10-20% + 30% - reads: t h i r t y % !!! push processing punishment fee).
I will have to start developing myself again:
- TriX400, exposed @ ISO 3200
- Kodak TMax developer
- times for ISO3200 estimated from massive dev chart + a little
How does it look?
Here is how TX400 @ 3200 in TMax looks:

Here is, how TX400 @ 3200 in D-76 looks:

crop:

ISO3200 is my standard speed for TriX and Neopan 400 - I only shoot these films @ 3200, even in daylight, if I must shoot in daylight (really don't prefer to).

Cool shots Dirk, interesting to see Tri-X @ 3200!
Saw it @ 800 pushed one stop recently and was so impressed I got myself 5 rolls to develop in D76 soon. Competitor for my beloved Agfa 100APX + Rodinal 1:100?

Thanks Johan - I am still collecting, to lock me into the bathroom for a whole weekend, finishing developing of a larger batch (I am a bit slow at that, as I really shoot mainly digital these days and just the odd roll).
Please point me to shared photos, once you have the TriX developed ;-)
