Konica Hexar AF Black Edition - Gold Serial number help Deciphering

Hey All,

A Konica Hexar AF came in the mail for me today. Super excited as this is the second Hexar I've owned. But I noticed something strange or just different on the side of the camera. There is a number in gold with japanese writing.

So I need some help. Does anyone know what that number in the photo means? If I never know it won't matter, but you know how these things are. I wanna know. ha

商研, Shoken, it's both Japanese and Chinese, means, 'business research',
Should be short for 商業 研究, Shogyo Kenkyu (like Todai is a short for Tokyo Daigaku/ University)

Also, there is a Japanese tool company called 商研 Corp.

Schools also call their 'Business Research Dept' 商研所,
So I think this could be a camera belongs to some university's 'Business Research Dept' before, but not 100% sure.

These are Chinese Characters (also used in Japanese)short for Business Research Institute or some company related. This should be used to identified as the common property of the party (college, institute, company whatever)

Were any of the Bond movies filmed in Japan? This must have been his Hexar, be careful the first time you press the shutter, along with taking a picture it might also be a laser or flame thrower. 🙂

I think what you have basically is an "engraved" camera. Although very nicely done. 🙂
