Was wondering what everyone here thought of the Konica Hexar AF camera. Saw a second hand one that looks pretty good - I guess what I'd like most about it is : fast AF, and QUIET operation.

I was recommended the Bessa R by some people on this forum, and which it is a nice camera, I'm disappointed at the loudness of its shutter. Got me into trouble once when someone heard the shutter triggering in a fairly crowded restaurant, and had an issue with me taking pictures of him... even though my camera wasn't even pointed in his direction.

Anyway, what's the max price you would pay for a used Hexar AF in good condition?

I think I have too many cameras as it is.... but it is tempting.

It is fast(ish) in "normal" mode and very quiet, as well. I think more quiet than any Leica I've ever heard, but not as quiet as my leaf-shutter fixed-lens RFs. It is the next best thing to inaudible in "silent" mode, and lots better than any of the above - except, perhaps, a muffled Oly XA. But everything is slower in "silent mode".

I paid US$300 for a camera in absolute tip-top condition. I might have paid more, as I'd been thinking about it for a while. But I might not have. I talked to the seller and got a good vibe - but that's not always possible.

it is an excellent camera with an even better lens- top price: $500 in EX+ condition from a trusted seller giving a satisfaction guaranteed offer

I had one of these too. It takes wonderful photos, everything you've heard about this lens is true. It is silent. The most quiet camera I've heard save digital point and shoots. Honestly, it was quite funny. I would have to tell people I took the picture...

I sold mine because I found it to be a large camera and the ergonomics of it bothered me. Also, I don't want to be a photographer who appears to be sneaking photos. I know that many people would disagree with me so don't let my opinion disuade you from a purchase. For the size that the camera was I wanted to have a more manual, personal experience.

I agree with Frank. They seem to hover around $500 for a camera in good shape. They are a cult camera and I'm glad I got to play with one for a while.

Hi there,

I got one on sale now on eBay. Item nr. is 160168460082. Shots of the camera and accessories will be posted on Sunday.

I have sold a number of them before. They all were updated with Silent Mode (when necessary, the Black Edition cameras have that already), and AutoBracketing. Shutter button tends to get dirty over years, even in not used cameras, causing erratic focussing and lightmeter readings. Cameras I sold all have the button serviced as a precaution.

There's even one more Black Edition camera waiting to be listed after this one gets sold!
