I have a Hexar Silver. At the time I bought it, I really wanted the black one, but now I have it, I wouldn't trade it for 2 black ones! It's one camera that looks really gorgeous in silver.

I've had both the black and silver, and think the silver one with the leatherette really looks and feels lovely. Superb and beguiling little beasties. Here's a pic from mine, please ignore the auto-focus center composition, I was still new with it, and my daughter very fast!

Ditto for every positive comment. I have the "Classic" and can't praise it enough. You won't be disappointed. The 1/250 has never been a problem - never missed a shot apart from the rare case of stopping down more than originally planned.

Revolucion - I use the round cap from the 35mm Summilux ASPH - it actualy fits better than the stock cap. The ASPH wears its rectangular hood/cap all the time.

Date back...?
Date back...?
I have a beautiful Hexar Rhodium, which is one of my favorite street shooters. I have shot some fine exhibition quality pictures with it, in fact, and could survive artistically if I were deprived of everything except this camera and an unlimited supply of good e6 film and developing. I am fortunate to have some other fine cameras (two Leicas and a Zeiss-Ikon), but I could live with just this one!
So, if you do not already own a Hexar AF but do want one of history's very best 35mm film cameras, this is it!
However, I do not understand the date back. It does not seem to actually inscribe a date and time on my negatives or transparencies! Where is the date? Anyone!? I assume that the controls on the date back that select format of the date are the same ones that enable or disable this feature. However, most Hexar features have esoteric controls, so I am probably unaware of some secret, magic code? What makes the camera actually put a date and time on your film? Is there a Hexar user who can 'splain to me?

Is there anyone who might be able to send me a pdf of the manual or give a link to one. I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

Check out Mr. Gandy's write-up at Cameraquest, also:
http://www.cameraquest.com/konhex.htm
This and the photo.net site are likely to give you the most useful information. The official manual is difficult to follow.

Thank you for the responses. I've seen the pnet and cameraquest write ups, which are both excellent for anyone who hasn't, and I've heard the manual is not the best, just wanted to check it out to see if there's anything interesting. Thanks again.

the snow must go on
I have dragged my hexar in the last two weeks up to dry hot volcano craters with red dust blown in the wind. I went to the beach with it and got it splashed with salty water. I soaked it in pouring rain and waterfall fog.
It never caughed. It worked like a charm.
This is one tough piece of plastic camera.
Now i'm waiting for developing the slides. The black and whites I did, and they all look fine.

If you never saw Hexar slides before, then prepare for a pleasant surprise. I'd sit down if I were you, before watching them.

I've just used the instructions in the photo.net thread to add upgraded functions to an original black hexar. It works fine, and I think the one touch exposure setting in manual will be pretty useful. Recommended!

Just get a mint Hexar Silver with flash. Performed the upgrade with success. I'm thinking to use a filter. Is there filter problem with Silver?
