A friend has come up with a couple of very nice cameras, and we were wondering about a CLA for them- one is a Konica S2, in stunning condition (with case instructions all look brand new), but the shutter seems stuck. Any reccomendations on who to do it?

You!

The shutter might just need a bit of lighter fluid on it, for it to work again. You can screw out the front lens element to reach the shutter. Find a website that shows you how.
In my opinion, a CLA isn't economical for the konica. There a enough cheap ones around to buy a working specimen if needed.

Cheers,

I respectfully diagree. It's a quality RF and if you're gonna keep it for many years, it's worth a CLA. Everyone of them will suffer from the shutter-stick problem sooner or later. Get the CLA now and don't worry about it happening again for a long time.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out some DIY sites tonight. If it was mine I'd certainly take it on- as it isn't and my friend won't likely want to try, any other suggestions as to who?

[dear god. let this be the thread that kicks my ass into fixing my s2 that's been in pieces in a box for sooooo too many years]

dear s.reverb. if you find a good diy site on it, would you post link??
,-)

You could get it done by: Mark Hama (markhama@comcast.net), Leonid Treskunov (trescam@hotmail.com), or Greg Weber (trescam@hotmail.com)

Heres a link to a site that shows you how to get into the lens to clean the aperture and shutter blades.

He misses the first step which is to remove the thin ring between the name plate ring and the filter ring. Don't attempt to turn the nameplate ring.
