After my successful Kiev oil bath, I went to open the ribs of my best working Kiev, a Kiev 2a bought from Fedka at his usual high price. The camera performed almost as good as my successfuly lubbed Kiev 4AM.

I open the inners and OOOOOPS, the camera has been already CLA-ed !!
It shows slight signs of residual grease, new grease. Fedka hasn't advertized this camera as being CLA-ed !!!

Doesn't he deserve my outspoken recognizement ?
KUDOS FOR FEDKA !

Regarding the camera I am going to clean the curtains with alcohol and lube them a bit.

Cheers,
Ruben

Well, that certainly makes his prices a little more reasonable. I might have to look at buying from him in the future.

If I ever have any ready cash again. :(

I believe Yuri has a guy in the Ukraine who goes over the cameras and cleans them up before he ships them to New York. If you're not shy about diving into the innards of the camera, keep an eye out for his 'as-is' buys. They much cheaper than his usual prices. I just bought a Zorki 4K body from him that was beautifully clean and only needed a quick adjustment to the shutter prawl to put it back in fully functioning conditon.

(OK, it also took 2 hours to get the film advance lever spring rewound and put back where it belonged, but that was my fault.)

hehe, i know exactly what you're talking about ... but the feeling of accomplishment once you manage to put it back into place again is priceless!

Yuri has done well by me several times. When I ordered a Kiev 4AM from him he decided it didn't sound right when he checked it so he sent me a higher priced Kiev 4A instead.

He also has "as is" lenses occasionally. I had a Kiev mount J-9 for 1/2 his usual price for having to unscrew three set screws and turning the mounting ring about 20 degrees... :D

Whenever I want to get known good FSU gear, I always go to him first.
