The other day I rec'd a nice L1 from David Murphy and I am obsessed w/ it's beauty. I put it on my PC table and just stare at it. Then I had an idea--I waxed all the chrome and black painted surfaces w/ my fabled (UK) Renniassance brand wax. WOW! does it ever shine like a jewel now.

"Flim? You want flim?"
Tags would be nice on Flickr. How about a shot of the camera itself? Oh, and did you get me one too?

And underneath all that surface beauty, beats the heart of a great picture taker!!
Congratulations on the acquisition. I have missed the L1 I briefly owned, ever since I used the proceeds to buy something of much less beauty and character.

Hey, I own one of those. I haven't waxed mine, though.....
I've used Silver Polish on the chrome of some J-8's and I-50's. But After taking them off the lens!

a beautiful camera indeed - I haven't seen one before! Thanks for sharing

To be honest, the camera would look a lot better with a Canon 50/1.2 mounted on it.

True, but that lovely piece of glass enhances almost any camera it can mount... including your MP

If I didn't already have a Canon P...the L1 would definately be in my sights. Still...it does trigger a little GAS.

Yup, that's a beauty alright, but what's with the Fed lenscap? You gotta get a Canon front cap!!

It should have a chrome Serena 50/1.8 on it with a canon cap, like mine

Apparently, I committed an unpardonable heresy by posting those images w/ a non-Canon Lens. I promise I'll never do it again. hahahahaha.
I really didn't think about it before I took them as I was about to go out and take some test images w/ the new lens. BTW--images were taken w/ a New Fuji F30 at 1600/ no flash.

You've got a beautiful L-1. I picked up one of Brian Sweeney's a few years back, and it has given me great service (put it through an Essex Camera CLA). It is extremely quiet, and very easy to use.
In fact, I used the L-1 (with a CV 35/2.5 Color Skopar attached), along with a Rolleiflex 2.8F to shoot most of an assignment that we ran in January 2007. You can download the project here:
http://www.pacificmagazine.net/pm/special_mags/PM_0107_Hula_Insert.pdf
All of the photos for theproject were taken with either the L-1 or the Rollei, with the exception of three shots (including the cover), which were taken with a Nikon N80 and Nikkor zooms.
You'll like your new camera.
Floyd:
Thanks for your comments. The only issue I have so far w/ it is that the high shutter speed dial is a little difficult to use because the 500, 250 and 125 speed markers are pretty close together. As a result, it's a little slower process to change speeds than that on the Model P.
